has anyone diy a venturi before ?

sure venturi's are simple.

what you got going on?

for a outdoor mini pond , do you have pics of it ?

Well what are you trying to transfer with this venturi?

The angles will change for wether you are transfering air or liquid.

The most simple venturi used in aquaria is one that transfers air. Like a pump outlet that doubles as a bubbler. As long as you have the flow to support the venturi.

All you need to perform that is.

a length of air line.

a drill bit a little smaller than the diameter of the air line.

Then you drill the hole a inch or so before the end of the outlet in the tank.
Then take the airline. And cut the tip of it at a 45 degree angle. And insert the airline so that the angle is away from the flow. Push the air line in about half way thru the diameter of the outlet pipe.

And your done.

Hybridtheory, that's not actually venturi, although I see what you're trying to accomplish with it, and I bet it works just fine for injecting air bubbles.

Limz - depends on what you want to do with it. google "DIY Eductor" - lots of reef guys build their own venturi driven eductors to create extra current in their tank. But if you're just trying to get bubbles in your flow, Hybrid has offered a very simple DIY solution.

Yea its not a venturi it just uses the flow of the water to create negative pressure on the oppissite side of the air line. Which then create's suction and draws in air into the flow of the water from the pump.

or a venturi

Not all venturi's have to look like the ones pictured in the link. There are a few mandatory principals that have to be present to call something a venturi.

primary purpose is to provide oxygen for the pond, thanks guys for the info , i will trying out one , as i am just connecting it to the outlet pipe , just hope the current is strong enough

here is a rough sketch , i just cut off the top of two cokes bottles , silicon the sides , and just drill a hole and place the pipe in it , is the end of airpipe cut 45 degrees important? hope it works , comments will be welcome
