Anyone else collect stickers from brands etc?

My dad is a big car guy. Me not so much.

We got into an accident recently and totaled our pickup. It was a limited edition one apparently, and my dad was crushed.

He went off to the dealer this week and impulse bought the Porsche Macan.

He traded in his Mercedes for it.

We also recently traded in our Cadillac escalade for a lincon. We are a family of 6 so we need big cars!

I live in a very friendly neighborhood filled with elderly, and young kids.

Can you expand on that, i'm somewhat confused, maybe it's my Britishness. You say that you "live in a very friendly neighbourhood filled with ELDERLY, AND YOUNG KIDS." So you have elderly kids in San Diego? In the uk we call elderly kids....adults. Can you understand how discombobulated that leaves me?

You're very lucky living in a trusting area. The housing estate where we live is quite new, the houses are only 10 years old. But it was built only a few hundred yards away from another older housing estate which is notorious for drugs and all sorts of other crimes. And the scallies from said housing estate are forever trying their luck over on our patch!

i think he meant elderly people

Well, to be exact, we have RETIRED people in out neighborhood, and we have parents that have children that are 10 or less. The only theft around here was in broad daylight, where somebody's bike got stollen. That was 4 years ago. We leave our garage open half the time, and nobody ever cares or is interested. We split our garage into 2 parts. We put a wall up halfway to create an office space. So the garage is just were we toss our crap! Our family is not the richest, because we just dropped 25k on our kitchen remodel, if anything got stolen, especially my expensive limited edition, it would be devastating. Plus my dad needs back surgery because the metal rod needs to be replaced, so we need to save up all our money.

This thread has taken a weird turn!

Dont really mind the weird turn on this thread...i mean thats just something that can happen with lounge posts...

Going back to the "collecting stickers" theme, well sort of. I don't know if what i'm about to say was a worldwide thing or just a quaint British thing. But years and years ago a certain well known teabag manufacturing company, I believe it was PG Tips, used to put picture cards in each box of teabags. As with the chewing gum stickers I referred to earlier they came in a series and a certain theme. You'd collect the small picture cards and put them in a nice album.

Now, unless you drank tea like it was going out of fashion, or you had all your relatives collecting cards too, then the chances of you collecting cards from a whole series before the next series started were pretty slim. But some of these old collections, if complete and stuck neatly in an album, are worth a fortune nowadays.

Because of costs, I suspect, they stopped putting these small picture cards in with the tea many many years ago, but i've no doubt that these old collections are much sought after by collectors even today.

Does anybody recall these cards in with tea, or was it as I suspected just a British thing?

I’m a big tea drinker myself, but can’t say i’ve ever come across them... then again, i don’t think that brand was available to me before...

But i do remember collecting Garbage Pale Kids cards / stickers... infact i’ve still got a stack of them laying around somewhere...
