Anyone else enjoy goldfish?

Depends what type. Some are really werid some are beautiful

So true. Initially fancy goldfish didn't do anything for me, but once you keep some, their funny faces and personalities draw you right in. My first 'well kept' goldfish was a sad little comet my daughter won at a school fair. It's grown to a ~7" bright orange beauty with a long flowing tail fin.

I had my commons in the 70 for a while, a lot of fun but i have no regrets on the tank of oddballs as it is now. Very interesting tank for me

I find myself pulling em in like a log. Ill catch a largemouth any day of the week though.
well, what weight # line are you using, 20lb test? Try catching one on 4lb test LOL The little 16", 2lb'er in my picture took me over 5 minutes to fight on my Trout rod w/ 4lb test. I have also caught Carp over the 24" mark on 6lb test and one exceptional fish over 36" on 6lb test also, although my friend swore it was nearly FOUR FEET. Sadly he passed away 2 years ago so no one else can verify the size of the fish - he was the only other person who was there and saw it. It was back in 1992, iirc

My other best friend caught the larger one - at 25", 6.5lbs, but he definitely was using heavier line, around 15lb. test I think.

Forget LMB, if you want a REAL fight, Smallmouth are the strongest fish, pound-for-pound I ever known. The aerial acrobatics and dancing across the water surface on their tails and excitement is ridiculous. We use 4lb. test and Ultralight tackle in rivers/creeks/streams and smaller lakes, but for larger lakes, 6lb test might be a better choice.

head up to the Great Lakes if you want some serious Bassin'.

On second thought, you shouldn't be too far from the Illinois River - they caught BULL SHARK outta that river not too long ago

Kinda sounds like me trying to wrestle a bag of chips from my kids.
