Anyone else enjoy maintenance day?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Rarely, but yes.

Damn, I can't imagine doing buckets at this point... I'm hooking my tanks up to automatic water change system soon, no more water changes. ;)

I have 5 fish tanks and the total gallons is about 360 gallons. I also have a undergravel filter in all of my tanks so I have to siphon the gravel in all my tanks. It takes about 3 hours total in doing all my tanks. Do I enjoy it? Not really but after I am done, I am glad my tanks are clean.

My fish love water changes, especially when the tank is being refilled. They love the turbulent water action. Here's an old video:

75 gallon with 5 gallon buckets. its a pain but when its finished it looks a lot better. the worst part is cleaning the algae off the glass but my roommate usually does that while i get the new water ready to pour back in.

Having nice clean tanks is a must (220, 150, 60, 40, 55 x 2, and 10), but it is super time consuming...Saturdays have essentially become fish day for us...a few hours dedicated to maintenance and then a few hours going to all the LFSs to see if there's anything new with which to feed our addiction! But at the end of the day, I agree with the earlier post. It's always nice to sit back and watch the fish in their nice clean tank with a cold drink in my hand :D

Guilty...
My wife has always wondered why I enjoyed cleaning the tanks in our house. I told here it's like my own little Zen garden.
Every Sunday is cleaning day for the 125, 40 and 20. Currently using buckets but for time's sake will probably switch to Python/Aqueon pretty soon. Lifting 5 gallon buckets shoulder height as stated in a previous post does get a little old but in reality is really just a little too messy, I always end up moping the kitchen floor when I'm done (wouldn't mind skipping that last step).
Guess I really just enjoy it because I like having clean and clear tanks, along with the fact that I'm sure the fish enjoy a clean home as well.

Helper.... thats what I get? Didnt see you happen to clean the 55 or the 37 today either hahaha...Can't wait to post and watch the feeding tonight

Wasn't calling you out. And your right, didn't get to the other tanks, got too caught up in the 240. new layout is t*ts though.
