I have to fight the urge to say anything whenever I see Purple Parrots or Blueberry Oscars. Instead, I make a mental note never to buy anything from there.

That happened to me today. I left work and stopped by a LFS to find a piece we don't carry. This guy came in and asked me how I was doing and if I could help him. Maybe he recognized me from work and figured I got a different job someplace else.
of course its always important to know your place and respect the place of business but when you here that dreadful "ummmmm well think its.." as the preface to an answer to a question. its really hard to not just say excuse me, i can help.
Many times I will go in to pick up my paycheck or crickets and get stopped by a regular customer or an associate who thinks I know the anser and I end up spending a half an hour talking to a customer. One time someone tried to get me written up for that! I can't believe some people.
its a terrible trend in sales today: get the customer in and out as fast as possible without regard to the details.
I've done it a few times. I'll over hear a conversation and sometimes through in my two cents. But I have been asked a few time about fish when I ddn't work at the store.
I was at Wal-mart and a manager finally showed up to help a girl with a goldfish. He put cold tap water in the bag and dropped the fish in. Then he told her to go home as fast as she could and get it in warm water! I stopped her, got her some tap water conditioner and food, told her briefly about water changes (she had a bowl, too) and wished her the best of luck
