Anyone else hate growing fish out?

I love to grow fish out. I don't buy fish for the present, but plan for the future. I don't need fish to fill out my show tank, but to replace fish when they die or I get tired and get rid of. My grow out fish is like a conveyance belt, always ready to move up their places. I rarely buy adult fish because they are hard to introduce into an established order. Smaller grow outs fit in better to establishment as they pose no threat, and can hide or escape better. Adult fish don't worth the value to me as they may be over the peak. I much prefer juvies for better value, choices, and availability.

I'm impatient but I love growing my fish out. I like putting the time and effort in and watching them develop. Idk it just gives me a feeling of accomplishment when I have a great looking adult and I know the effort that I put into it to get it there. I'm the opposite, I hate buying adult fish.

This...but I have alot of patience.

For me, it's a labor of love. I enjoy watching my fish grow from babies to adults.

Like most I can see both sides... I love my fahaka who I grew from 0.5 of an inch to a 15 inch beast in 2 years. But I get frustrated waiting the her tankmates to grow up... and it's hard for find adult/older juvies to add to the 220g comm tank if I want to change it up.
But my 90g African cichlid tank is doing my head in... I have to keep telling myself 'I will look awesome, it will look awesome'.... Because at the moment it's just a lot of small fish! I keep having to stop myself getting rid of them and putting snakeheads in there.

I like the adult fish, but I also like watching them grow and seeing them change. From a breeding standpoint, yes it can get boring waiting for a future pair to get the size you are comfortable breeding them, but such is the cycle of life

I am in the impatient category. I like big fishes and always am in a hurry to see them achieve their size potential. With Asian Arowanas, color only comes with a certain size and age hence it's always a constant battle to hurry up the growth.

I like both. It really depends on what I'm buying. If I want to breed right away then I'll buy adults and if I know that they grow fast then I'll buy babies and watch them grow. There's an enjoyment in both.

My main tanks are breeding tanks. I like to grow out fry when my fish spawn. It is fun to watch them grow and then I sell most at an inch to offset some operating costs. Some I might grow to adults if I want more of that fish.

If I am buying fish to breed I want at least juveniles or just-maturing adults.

I know it's a different situation but a guy I know in the local cichlid association always enters a bunch (20+) of fish every year and wins. Well 95% of the fish he enters he buys as adults. Idk if it's legit or not but it seems like a cheat to me because he doesn't put in the time or effort into the fish but enters and wins off of them. Personally I wouldn't be able to enter a fish that I wasn't proud of growing out.
