Anyone else hate it when albums get leaked?

I think the album just loses its excitement once its leaked. You usually end up slowely putting together the songs and listen to the album over time. For me when I first buy an album I'm really excited about, listening to it for the first time all the way through is really nice because you get the whole finished product at the same time. And it gives me something to look forward to.

not me, when it comes to my favorite artists, i want as much of their work i can get as fast as i can get my ears on it, i don't care about a release date. i just download every song and guest appearances that i can find.

of course i'll still snag their album when it comes out, add it to the ipod and never touch that cd again. hence why i don't care about release dates lol

I'm usually like that for alot of artists too, but certain albums, like Big Seans album, and Kanye's last album, I really like to look forward to cause I hear all the hype about them and it gets me pumped to listen to them. And its kinda cool to count down the days like say its June 27th and I could get really excited because the album would be released the next day.

using your logic bro...you're waiting for december 25th for christmas, your grand parents come to town and say we have to leave and can only see you this week but we want you to open your present today, the 18th...you lose excitement? hell no, you're excited you got some dope presents and get to do a smaller version of it on xmas. that's how i feel about albums being leaked. double christmas.

plus from my experience so many albums have original release dates and always get dropped a few days early to avoid leaks or weeks/months after to change the songs because it's been leaked, release dates mean nothing to me today. the last release day i was excited about was the kanye west/50 cent double release date where fitty said he'd quit if he didn't outsell 'ye.

i'm sorry you're bummed out though. i hope the final album is as good as you're hoping. nothin worse then waiting for a release date and then being disappointed the week after

Alright bro, you got me there. My logic seems pretty stupid to me right now lol. I guess since I've been waiting so long for this album and I've had the date stuck in my head for the last couple weeks, I was dissapointed when it was leaked, although blogs are getting the feeling that it was leaked on purpose

and BTW, the album has lived up to my expectations :headbang2

i would love to interview a record executive and find out fo real if they really leak albums on purpose. it makes sense from a marketing stand point though. Create a bigger buzz for when the album is finally released. Get everyone even more hungry for the release.

Yea I wanna find that out too. But its a double-edged sword cause on one hand, you get to create a buzz (like you said), but on the other hand, it makes the album available earlier via illegal download, so less people will end up buying the album and more people will download it early, so the artist ends up making less money in that sense

He didn't retire his little feud with Rick Ross didn't go as he probably hoped it would and he just fell off lol.
