I don't think its necessary to see all fish all the time, and actually feel it makes things more interesting to have them pop in and out of view.
Kind of like that old sexual friend that calls randomly for a ......

Interesting choice analogy but i like it...

Hello, Nicely planted tank. Looks like they might have been growing for awhile and propigated?

Yes, thank you for posting the thread. I have 2 striated Kuhli loaches that looks like an eel, but aren't the real thing like your's. Very shy and hide in the dungeon of a multichambered castle. I sometimes clean under the castle and may or may not see them. I put food near one of the entrances to their 'cave' .
I suppose if I put food gradually further away they might come out, but I don't want to stress them. They will rarely come out at night or even day.

Are you looking for other fish compatible with yours? Cat shark is supposed to be suitable with puffer and larger fish with your Eel.

Lol, no im actually quite happy with my current stock and dont mind playing hide and seek with my fishes, especially when it comes time to clean and maintain my tank...

Nothing like suddenly seeing a puffer dart out of no where or an eel poke its head out at you just as you are trying to clean beneath everything...

i have a zig zag eel i see every three months

Yes, sounds about right, a friend of mine went through the same thing for about 2 years till one day it disappeared for a lot longer than 3 months...

6months later he dismantled his tank and till this day the fishes body is no where to be found... we often joke that he may have got out the tank and flew out the window somehow lol...

I have a goby I have only seen about 6 times since I got him 2 years ago.

Other than that I have a decent amount of catfish that don’t come out to much since I give them pvc pipes to hide in.
