This fish to someone in other continents is no different from other fish... You're upset cuz it happened to be an arowana. Wait a sec, are you pissed at the cook or cuz the fish are illegal to own here? BTW, it's not unusual to scale fish alive in Asia...

To someone very poor (in other continents?), pet animals are being treated much better than human beings (those who struggle to obtain foods/clothes) in the US/Europe, and to them that's way too wrong.

Just wanna share some cultural/social differences. You can't do anything about it so save your anger... :)

As stated, yes it upsets you, but reason is its because you dream of keeping these yourself, i see people eating oscars on a daily basis, araprima are also eaten in some parts of south america, remember, you quite happy to go to a fish mongers and pick up a peice of your favourite fish to chow down on, what about lobsters they get cooked in boiling water wilst alive,

In my humble opinion, when we start seeing animals skin humans alive then we can say there's no reason to be upset. Personally I am mad at the cook for not being the sensible one to know just put the fish out of it's misery then skin it. Would you like a doctor to do open heart surgery on you without an anestetic even skin graphs are very painful and you are usually perscribed pain medication afterwards. If you are a true fish lover this would make you upset. I really could care less about keeping the fish. It just about spirituality and humanity.

wow, the fish was still breathing at first, that is real sad. It is a GREEN arowana, I saw they even cook a RED arowana before too. Well I'm not going to lie but I'm curious how it tastes :(especially when it is a few hundred dollars meal. Has to be royal family members to be able to taste this kind of meal. :grinno:

If you know what is morally right and wrong, how can anyone do this? Wether we believe in Karma, God, a higher being, etc., I sure hope "What goes around, comes around..." That's just sickening, cruel, and unneeded.:jaw::WTF::wall::yuck::yuck::SaiyanSmi:yuck: :barf:

ur definitly right about me wanting to keep one of these, but the reason im mad is cuz asian arowanas r supposed to be endangered animals and taking one out of the wild just to eat is just selfish and unacceptable

I don't see any ethical issues besides the fact that the fish is endangered. Then again, could this be a farm raised specimen and not wild caught?

Why is it okay for fish to tear apart other fish while they are still alive and not okay for a human?

This thread makes me laugh. These fish are a source of food all over the world, South America, Asia, everywhere. Just because we keep them in a fish tank doesn't mean folks shouldn't be able to eat them. Gotta step out of the bubble you folks living in. No different than you eating salmon, trout, or catfish. In fact, unless you're a vegan, speaking out against this is pretty stupid.
