stingrays = possible

arowans = not.....

wether it be black, white, asian, green, orange, red, silver. aros breeding in captive is just harder then any other species. why is that you ask? because if you even get a pair to pair up, they usually go on a long mission of miles n miles (which is why ponds are required to even attempt) n get away from everyone else to try to breed so they feel safer. in an aquarium. there isn't miles n miles of swimming available.

stingrays will breed in a bucket. they jus need to hump n thats it.

I would really like to know where you get all this info because it is not very truthful and there are many websites that you cannot tkae their info to heart because they do not know what they are talking about... sorry not trying to burn ya or anything but it is completely possible to breed them its possible to breed almost anything given the right conditions... now saying that most people cannot give aros the proper conditions to breed... but its not impossible a large pond would help and to start off with a group of atleast ten untill you notice two pair up... it is a very touchy thing but possible....

my statement wasn't to mislead anyone saying its "impossible". but is it worth the effort? hmm lets see, a huge pond with about 10 blacks, that alone sounds like a couple hundred worth for the pond, heating it, filtering it, then going out n buying 10 blacks in a very expensive world. blacks in my area go for 300 a pop. iono bout buying 3k worth of blacks jus to shuve in a pond n never see them again n prey they breed.

my statement of them havin to go miles n miles was something someone told me in the past. sorry if it was imporper information. it was just something i was told so i passed it on. i take that statement back...

but to be honest. think about how much trouble it would be attempting to purposely breed blacks. first off they HAVE to be mature, ur lookin at 3-5 years of growing each individual to be ready to even breed in the first place. n what if you buy 10 blacks n every one turns out to be males. to me, its not worth the hassle but could be very very cool if done.

not impossible.... but can you do it?

My daddy always said that I can do anything I want if I put my mind to it.

thank you for the response I am not trying to be mean I have just read alot of hear say info on the sire latley and its killing me.. I usually keep my lip shut... but like I said it takes a bit more comitment to try and breed aros then it does say angels.. and setting up a large enough pond is not hard or expensive... I have several that are set up.. I hope to in the future breed aros that is one of my goals along with all of my rays and many other fish that I own I do not post pics of most fo my stuff just of stuff to show people that it can be done with a smaller budget.. I have a large group of silvers that within 3 years I hope to have a breeding pair at one time I had 28 silver aros in one pond... I now dont have that many but I have enough to up the odds that I have a sexed pair.. and the odds of getting 10 fish and them all being the same sex are pretty slim.... I have done massive amounts of research on the breeding and raising of aros I even talk to a breeder in asia that helps me out alot.. so once again I am sorry if I am sounding rude I just dislike hear say info...

ur not being rude, i appreciate you correcting me so now even i know :) its just that, aro's are rarely bred in captive for a reason. its not a chip off the old block. nor a walk thru the park. yes, anyone could try. but i dont think just "anyone" could pull it off. it takes real dedication such as someone like you. trust me, it is my life long goal to successfully breed a pair of silvers. i dont have 28 like you, or had. i only have a pair n am hoping for success on them being a male female pair. they've been together for a year now n only showed agression towards eachother for about 2 weeks out of the year they've been housed together.

they might not be a pair, but i have more silvers on the way in the future. thanks for the information you've givin so even i learned another thing today...

COOL I thought I was being rude that is why I apologized its good to see someone learn from others... You just have to watch who you get your info from I know alot of "old" fishkeepers that think they know everything when really they know nothing but there are those out there to learn from like several of our member on here are very knowledgable.. I know quite a bit but am far from being an "expert" of course I believe it is near imposible to be an expert since there is always new research and different enviromental cahnges in fish habitat

Around here I see them on lists for $125 regularly. Much cheaper and plausible in my neck of the woods.

If you think breeding aros is difficult, you should try EBJDs. That isn't a one step breeding project.

Well i heard that farm in far east is trying to breed black aro...

haven't heard any result though...i surely will post when i know true and proven result. I heard that there is a farm who collecting lot of blacks and will attempt to breed them.
