Anyone ever caught an Oscar while fishing?

Notice I said people. Not me. Oscars are one of the most common aquarium fish in the industry and can rake in lots of cash. People could catch them and raise and sell the fry. I wasn't ever planning on doing this. I wouldn't be surprised if people are doing that now.

I've heard few reports of albinos, reds and tigers being caught or seen by our own members on here. Most likely released by someone that doesn't want them but that is not uncommon.

No, they are listed under the Florida fish and wildlife conservation commission as a non native, non game fish.

The TRUE wild caught oscars are more colorful than these Floridian oscars. That's why these mongrels are not popular with most people. They are popular with anglers...not aquarists.
