I tell you what, my Oscar got 15" and would bite me and totally piss me off sometimes to the point I wanted to hook it and eat it!!

There are fly fishing tournaments hosted for oscars quite often. Id love to go to one. I've ever hooked one on fly.

I have an oscar as a pet that I caught on hook and line, just south of the broward county/miami border. when i brought her home she was solid brown, so my mom named her fugly, lol. After only a week in captivity, she took second place in her class at the American Cichlid Association convention in indianapolis. Aquamojo got this awesome picture of her at the show (thanks again!)
Maybe It would be good to catch a few so you can see how big these guys really get. Hey I am not flaming but they get big. I have a 14 incher that I got off creglist that was raised in captivity. They are super thick. Good luck with your fish.
