otos are from the tropics of s. america and so i would think they'd thrive better in warmer water. planetcatfish reckons 21 - 26°C and mine are around 26 and doing fine. (though one did die yesterday leaving me with 7

While they are tropical, if you acclimate them they can handle cold temps. I had a school of about 20 in my 135 pond.. quite a while ago... My mud puppy ate him... now that was a cool little amphibian.

Both my Hillstream loaches died a few weeks ago, I might try again in a different tank.

Died spontaneously. Water quality good, no sign of disease. Kept temp at 78 deg F. Could it be it was too warm?

Possibly, but they both died, one a week after the other. Sounds fishy that they would get the same parasite.

they might if they came from the same place, and the whole batch had it. i duno, could be a number of things... stress from other things (but i wouldnt say temp. give them another go see if your more succussful

They did come from the same place, I'll try again and see what happens, if I can find them again.

Not that I remember, are any bad for them?
