If its dangerous might just pick up my wife's niece after I catch it and have her let it out while I sit in the car.

'coons are awesome!!! I've raised a few from time to time that we've found when cutting down trees and the like. They are quite the comical, inquisitive little creatures. Definitely able to bring on the primal rage though thats for sure. Quite surprising the amount of damage and fury that can be released from sucha 'small' animal.

I'm sure them 'coons will be ready to leave you in the dust than rather stand and give you a good lickin!!

BTW...if it was a possum, you won't need a trap, you can just catch them by hand. LoL. Really not that hard, done it several times. :)

Sounds like raccoon poo. Lots of berries and nuts in it are a dead giveaway.

Initially I thought it was peacock or love birds . As few fly in the yard daily for bread .

But after finding several foot holes dug by garage wall realized it wasn't a bird.

Yup, I've relocated one before. It wasn't that fun, considering it was a male the size of a dog!!! And when I say dog I mean a good sized dog, not a Yorkie. He was not the happiest animal I've ever seen and tried to bite through the cage.

I get nervous around angry animals I just hope cage (if I even catch it) holds on the way to Glades lol .

we have relocated many of them in the have a heart trap... the farm where we kept our horses had quite a few raccoons.. and many barn cats.. many times i would be strolling through the big barn to check on the horses and i would see all the cats eating in a circle from a big pan their regular cat food... you quessed it ... in with all those cats were a couple of raccoons..they never bothered the cats but they did poop and make nests in the hay in the hay loft... so we would set the traps with cat food as bait and they would always be in there the next morning.. then we put the trap in the tractor bucket and would relocate them out into the open apple field... they were so happy to go they would run away quickly as soon as the cage door opened..

It seems everyone here released them without being bit.

I was concerned it would go after me. I havent actually even seen the raccoon but in my head I imagined worse case scenario of raccoon tearing me up.

We've trapped a total seven raccoons who were eating the outside cat's food. They are now serving as park rangers in a nearby national park. Each one was quite happy to leave the confines of the cage. Getting them out of the cage was not a problem.

Wow 7 that's a lot. I used to live in Long island NY (suburbs) and lots racoons but they didnt destroy anything .

This one if raccoon as could be oppossum is very destructive.

We occasionally have them in our yard but other then them trying to get in the garbage cans they dont cause a problem . However for the last three years we have a big female mountain lion hanging around. I have yet to see her but my neighbors on both sides have. Ive seen her prints and what looks to be 2 sets of cub prints in my yard but they are usually accompanied by mule deer tracks so i figure shes teaching her cubs to hunt.
Its just a thought , but maybe you could setup your pond so you can live in piece with the raccoons instead of relocating them. They are pretty entertaining to watch i cant resist leaving them out a few sugar cubes and a big pan of water ,talk about confused. lol

You should be ok. But still be really careful. You never know with wild animals how they will react and racoons can have a pretty wide mean streak.

Thanks.
I intend to set trap up tonight using cat food as others here have suggested.

If it's a real big, mean raccoon will see if I can pick up my wife's little niece on the way to Glades and have her let it out .
While I give directions from the car . You know how kids are they think all animals are cute.

I have jury duty in 2 weeks and can't risk being hurt as postponed it from last month. Kids heal over night any way.
