Sure a lot of it has to do with a turtles personality but you should always use caution especially when dealing with a turtle species that can easily remove a finger.

Coura, my painted turtles were all pretty tame as well. Even wild caught ones would learn to accept my presence after watching my other "tame" Painted turtles ignoring me. My two oldest female Box Turtles are extremely tame. The other day I was trying to plant a blueberry bush in their pen and my one female would not leave me alone. I kept putting her on the other side of the pen and she would crawl back over and pester me. She was very interested in the hole I was digging. Probably hoping I’d find her a worm.

Very important point indeed

:hearts:Mine do that all the time:D When they dont have anithing to do they get out of the water and get in the way of what Im doing. Even maps wich have a shy reputacion do that. I miss that female painted, so sweet personality:( The other female I have is prettier and bigger but her behavior is more "turtle average":)

as when they are big, if your hands aren't in the right place while grabbing, you WILL find out how long it's neck goes back.

12 snapping turtles, and never experienced that lol

my cooter (which left the pond) was extremely laid back, i could figit around (the general area) when it was basking and it would just sit there

but they say that about cooters, my snapper basked like twice
