i need inspiration

if my tropicals have to go (to a 10,000 permanent home :D) i want to convert to something less expensive, so i pick goldfish!, bright, colorful, a nice schooling fish that requires no heater and are faily cheap to keep, and they get big!!!

anyone got any big goldfish and or big goldfish tanks? i know there are some on here!

Goldfish are such a runty fish that most people would rather invest more money for something a little higher class.

But some goldfish tanks dont hurt. Heres a small sample.

There is nothing wrong with goldfish. They get a bad reputation because they are wrongly kept in filthy unfiltered bowls, given away as carnival prizes, and probably the most damaging to their rep , kept in filthy overstocked tanks to be used as diseased feeders. In my opinion properly raised and well cared for goldfish can be just as beautiful as any of the high priced we fish we love so much here. They are cheap, hardy and can grow to " MOnster " sizes. Hate if you want?

here ya go mike....

i have beautiful monster gold fish..but they are in my outdoor pond in the summer and my indoor pond in the winter.. mine are about 8 inches and at 10 years old ..and then a couple of generations after 2x;s i usually get a couple of new babies every year now..

I have a feeling once you get into it you'll develop a liking to the more expensive goldfish but cool..

Sounds like a cool idea. Had the urge to do this myself after seeing this one below offered for free on CL.

Around 4 years old and about 6 to 7 inches long. Been alone in 30G tank for the past 18 months and dad is getting tired of being the only one to take care of him. In good health as far as we can tell.

Even a cheap comet goldfish develops in to an attractive monster if kept well for years. A monster GF tank would be a cool sight. Go for it DeL.
