thats when a forum is worth its weight in gold ,,well done and great advice stefan and mark

greats news rich

i wouldn't say they are totally in the clear yet but 2 of the 3 have took a bit of prawn they are breathing better but still cough every now and then but they are much more active

i think the 2nd dose of the tremazol will kill off any other worms left

i am having problems even finding the tremazol in the UK i will have used 4 x 100 ml bottles when i have finished and a £32 per 100 ml its not cheap

if after the 2nd dose on tuesday then about a week after if they are still coughing i will use the wormex that i have from Stefan

with the tremazol you need to leave it in for 6-8 hours then do a 80% water change or if the water goes cloudy then change water right away

thanks Mark and stefan

Hi Richard,

even if they are still coughing sometimes, I'd now raise the temperature up to 86-88°F. This will stimulate their appetite........and I'd already use wormex for the second treatment, what you can surely imagine ;) It's cheaper, safer and trustier working against all worms hatching because of a longer lasting possiblity of treatment.

If you want to use tremazol also for the second time, you should do the second treatment after only 5 days and also a third treatment after only 3 more days, which means 8 days from the beginning of the measure. The information given on the instruction leaflet (even on the german one, I think, there is the same info on the english version) is not appropriate for your water temperature and will not kill all worms hatching until laying unreachable eggs themselfes again, cause it's dedicated to the development of gill worms at lower temperatures!!

Regards
Stefan

thanks for the info

as i have started with tremazol i think its best to finish with it

i will treat on the days you recommended days 1,5,8

i will keep the worm-ex for if i ever need it and its best to keep some in the UK just in case anyone else has this problem

Glad to hear they're recovering, slowly but recovering anyway. Why dont you try to get PraziPro from Ebay?, i get some myself last year, i'm in Spain and it wasnt expensive. I dont like Sera meds cause of those huge WC you need to do after a few hours of treatment, but they work fine. I have used Tremazol in the past, but in order to try to avoid the WC i did a long bath (6h as they say) with the recommended dose, and that worked fine for me with some retics a few years ago. It was easy, but they were 10cm diameter....not sure if it will work with a beast.

Best regards
Ernesto Roa.

Hope they go from strength to strength for you Richard..good to see you got the right help in the end .

wow today was the day the p14 were totally back to normal

i still need to treat 1 or 2 more times with the tremazol but its mad yesterday they were still not 100% and just eating a little but today they are eating like crazy and the 2 females are back to their normal selfs fighting like mad when you go near the tank thinking you are about to feed them

what can i say a very big thanks to mark and Stefan as this was something i have never seen before

and as for davidw 2 weeks are now up and they are still alive and doing better than ever

its funny how i have not added a RO unit or improved my water conditions or removed the substrate
