piranhas will usually not bite unless provoked, so give them their space, move slowly and deliberately, and be careful not to corner them. you should be fine

this kid in canada was moving a large blue diamond rhom into a 125, and he was flopping in the net so the kid covered the top with his hand, lets just say there was a big bite mark!!!! look it up!!!!!! it happened in canada awhile ago google it

yes there have been attacks every now and again you see ppl post pics of their wounds after fish have been then just have to look in past threads. usually its serras that bite ppl in the hobby. but lots of ppl have been bit in the wild. its rare but it does happen

Just dont wave your hand closer than 4 inches from a group of pygos, unpredictable things can happen they will likely flip out and bite anything they slam into out of fear.

Also, large rhoms are very territorial and confident. Even though your bigger they may go for your hand if they feel your invading a part of the tank they consider their property.

I just watched the planet earth vid last night where they go diving and looking for piranhas. The guy said they were shy and uninterested in him, even during a feeding frenzy. You can even see in him push or tap a couple away from him as they swim by his hand.
