Anyone hear have tiretrack (spiny)eels, or fire eels?

Mine never buried himself although I did not give him the luxury of sand. He seemed content to stay inside of a smooth rock tunnel I made for him that was almost the same length as he was.
 
From past expirience with spiney type eels, they usually bury themselves when their small, but grow out of it. at least all of mine did.
