i go fishing for large mouth bass :P
illegal for me to keep them so idk.. o.0

idk, the net guy was holding the net a bit high, but i guess when your bringing in a record size fish, you make small mistakes like that.

Lake Casitas (sp?) in Cali produces true monsters, of coures, they are feeding on the trout, etc. there. Don't think they catch 15-20 pounders daily or even monthly... My mom has a 4 acre pond in her front yard, pond record is 14lbs 13oz on a certified scale, I've got many between 8 and 10 from that pond.

The reason you aren't seeing true record bass in Miami is the invasives (like the peacock bass, tilapia, etc) compete for forage and eat the bass fry and possibly disturb the nesting, so the population is getting lower. Come up here to N Florida where we don't have those issues and you can see and catch some big ones...

i also heard that lake el salto is known to house monster bass. i was told that a small bass there was over 7 pounds. they feed on trout and other fish. at first i didnt believe it intill i googled it.

whats the biggest anyone has ever raised a Large Mouth? Thats my plan at some point to have a tank large enough to have them. I love those fish, I fished for them in NH all the time. Even small mouth would be cool, they are ussually smaller in size than large mouth. Has anyone ever done anything with them?

I would think they could live in a huge variety of water types. In the natural they can live through some cold northern NH winters up in Lake Winnipesaukee and even in Lake Monomonac in southern NH.

Has anyone ever bought them live? Where I live in Chicago now not to many places to catch large mouth I dont think.

both large mouth and small mouth can live in cold waters, a big small mouth is about 20= inches, i think that the pa state record is something like 23 inches for the small mouth. i would imagine that if you kept your large mouth in great water conditions and fed him good, it would reach over 10 pounds.

JayK1320 - a bass pro shops had one in a tank in a store (may have been cabelas though) but it ended up being like 28lbs...

Here's a potential record that was caught in '06... 25lbs 1oz.
