anyone know some larger, colorful species of tetras?

I think I'm either going to go with serpae or columbian tetras.

I'm gonna start a poll, I can't decide myself. I like both equally.

I was going to use Serpae with my Jewel cichlid, but then thought they may be targets due to same color. So I went with the Black Skirts, and it so happened that The Wet Spot had 6 bigger ones on hand so I got them. 20171215_213308.jpg

So I have a school of 6 red eye tetras and a small female acara in a 10 gallon tank... Is that too much of a bioload or... I mean I do water changes every week or two on that tank... the red eye tetras are quite small right now, only about an inch or less. (There's one big female that seems to lead the school around though, she's about a little more than an inch) Should I put in some emersed plants to eat the nitrates? I eventually will get rid of the red eyes, as much as I like them my little 3 inch acara probably won't like some weird silver things as big as her darting around the tank.

Depends on the filtration, water changes, is it a cycled tank or new? Should be ok for a bit yet, but if it's a Blue Acura it will get anywhere from 6 to 8 inches. That 10gal will be too small for an 8in fish. I want to get one for my Oscar's 55 when I get her a bigger tank. I would be looking for a 40b or 55 for it's life long home.

Nope, she's an unknown species... Stays pretty small, she's been 3 inches for awhile. Got her at 2 inches in March, and she spawned 6 times, so I guess this is about as big as she gets. Also she has been in this tank for the past 3 months, so definitely not a new tank. Also I got the tetras just yesterday... Everyone is settled in just fine, and the red eyes seem to help bring my acara out more. She just seems to be curious as to what they are, always swimming up to one or following the school if she gets the chance. Her name is snowflake btw...

There you can see the weird filter I have... A box with a sponge inside, and inside the sponge is the filter media. On the top there's the output... A pipe with some holes in the side that makes a current along the surface of the water...

An LFS here has albino Congos that look absolutely amazing. They're in a display tank though, and aren't for sale (otherwise I'd be very tempted to buy them).

Looking for species that
1. only get between 2-3 inches
2. are pretty colorful
3. are taller bodied (like serpae, black skirt, or columbian)
4. school together
5. aren't too aggressive
6. are fast swimmers

google didn't really help me with my search for this.
