Exactly, my wife is from Paraguay and that is were I got the translation, but she says it doesnt "mean" the same. It is just a literal translation of the two words...

if I saw a horse tattoo with that written, I would think that it died and now there is a horse-ghost haunting someone

As for spanish writing on my body..well why not.
I happen to find the language (from the little I do know) very beautiful. And having writing there that not just anybody can read, is the reason really

I would be very careful to not be seen in public with a tattoo like that in Spanish.

Some readers might misinterpret the owner as being a professional, specially if you have unkempt hair or nappy headed at the time, so to speak.......or somebody who likes horse sized items.

why do you want a tattoo in spanish if you don't speak it? and why spanish? I speak portuguese as a first language, and if somebody told me espirito livre, I would think of a wandering ghost. I don't think it translates like that.

libre de espiritu which translated is free of spirit. there are so many dialects of spanish, however castillian spanis is the correct language as is recognized
world wide.
