that is very very cool though with 8 kids i would not get one

Why's that? File Snakes are harmless, and I'm not sure you're supposed to handle them anyways.

I think its a fresh water moray eel
just so everyone knows, as far as i know there is NO SUCH THING as a fresh water moray eel, the juvies can be kept in freshwater and so pet stores sell them as such but they will only thrive in a fully marine set-up as they age (if anyone has actual evidence of an adult moray living in freshwater LONG TERM that is healthy then please let me know) and this snake is SWEET, it looks awesome and has better markings than most pics iv seen of the aquatic snakes (though like others have said they don't survive very well most of the time so maybe pics i saw were of a sick one) would love to hear more info though from people who have actually kept them :)

The freshwater "snow" morays sold are not truly fresh ?

I know nothing about them just assumed they were. They have spots overall drabbish looking and kept in freshwater at pet store but they certainly look nothing like the real Marine snowflake morays.

Always thought they were tre freshwater morays.

not sure which one you are talking about but a lot of pet stores sell juvi snowflake morays in freshwater (maybe the ones you see arent actually morays or are snowflakes that just dont look as good because they are being kept in fresh), as far as i know there is no moray that is freshwater, they also sell those poor "dragon" gobies as freshwater too which is why alot of them dont do well because they need brackish

I looked it up to show you pic.

I see they need salt. Either way these are the one's sold in area pet store as freshwater snowflake morays. They seem to sell well as tiny spotted little cute morays and people like myself assumed freshwater (I don't have any) imagine they will die as they get older.

i would like to know about the snake... not an eel which everyone agrees that this is not .. so if anyone knows anything about this snake from exp. or from a really creadable source ...

you got 8 kids bro? HOLY :WHOA: I got 4 and its nuts.Cant picture double.:nilly:

yeah i havent seen those, but that page even says they will die eventually in freshwater and need brackish...

the moray's being sold as fresh are only fresh for so long. They need salt regardless and as adults they would need salt water-period.Would they last? Probably for a while but not for its full life term.Could it possibly adapt? I would think its best shot would be in brackish.
