Anyone know what kind of snake this is?

As interesting as I do find eels to be, I think we've established that the animal in the video is a snake, and since this is the Reptile section I think we should try to focus on getting more information on said snake. Please continue any discussion on eels in the eel section of the forum. Anyone with experience on keeping these snakes, please chime in, myself and others are very interested to hear what you have to say.

Yeah sorry that thread did get WAYYYY sidetracked, i too would like to hear from other members experience of keeping these awesome looking snakes!!

Specifically if they are truly kept fully aquatic, like shown in the video, or if they require some time out of the water as well. Everything I've been able to find says that always stay in the water, but perhaps someone has had a different experience with them...

So does anybody know where to get them at?

I am really thinking about trying to get one of these for the 55gal tank i have sitting empty right now ... there is a pet store here that has fish and snakes .. so it might be right up there ally .. and since the owner told me he would get me anything i asked for .. even the stuff he "cannot put on display" ... he must have hookups that could get a legal snake ..

If you do it, make sure you do research first - everything I can find on them says they are not easy to take care of. And definitely keep the rest of us updated!

from what i see the tank set up and filtration is the most important .. that and feeding them clean healthy fish ... which would be the hardest part .. unless these jags start popping out babies ..

but i think what i would do is a 55 with a sump .. so i can seal the top of the tank to reduce the chance of the snake getting out .. the planted tank with lots of hiding would be the hardest part for me .. so i think i would do the set up first .. then attempt to add the snake if i can get one ... then i would just have a QT tank for the feeders so that i can reduce the chance of sick fish being fed .. i think that other then that ... its just like keeping fish .. from what the site had to say about them they seem rather easy as long as the tank set up is correct ..

Still, let us know how it goes. Does it really need a planted tank or does it say that you could use fake plants or other things like driftwood for that coverage?
