Anyone NOT use water conditioner/prime ?

A friend of mine never uses any water conditioner or prime during water changes. He keeps BD and P14 black rays for many years and just fills straight from tap. His water is ph7.5 and hard water.

Would I be ok to do the same? I thought chlorine was bad for fish ?how come he has no issues or problems?

Just curious if anyone else does the same...

I don't, but there is no chlorine in the tap water here.

If you don't have chlorine in your water you might get away with it. But why cheap out on water conditioner when you have expensive fish. People have lost lots of fish from not using water conditioner and have had Chloramine come out of the tap during the water change and killed most of their fish before they even realized what was going on. If they were using water conditioner they most likely would have saved their fish.

dont keep rays. but i never use conditioners aswell.

I always use dechlorinator unless I'm using RODI water. I do massive water changes in my ray tank and do not want to shock them in any way. I keep my water soft at a pH around 6.5.

+1. I have a few friends who don't use conditioner either and their fish are fine but I wouldn't risk it with rays.

I use stresscoat. A little cheaper. Chlorimines in the water here.
