Anyone on MFK Hunt?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
LOL I had to leave mine in AZ. I'm a good law abiding doobie and they are illeagle in CA.

We get a 9 day regular season, last year and this year we have earn-a-buck which means you have to shoot a doe to get a buck tag. (population control) But we have a couple of buck tags that a good from last season so I get choice all season this year. Then in december there is a 4 day doe only season. I'm hoping to go for a couple days for that. There is also an eradication zone around the madison area. I might be wrong but i'm pretty sure its a couple of months long and you are supposed to shoot every deer you see. The DNR's bright answer to the threat of Chronic Wasting Disease. I don't hunt that area, but I guess people are pretty successful there.

This is my 3rd (and smallest) mule deer in 4 years. I didn't get a license the 4th year. I have also hunted elk and some small game (prarie dogs and rabbits).

First combined rifle season in central Colorado.

30-06 is my weapon of choice (gift from my grandfather when I was 14).

I have hunted with most types of weapons: archery, muzzleloader, and rifle since I turned 14 and have been successful with each.

I blew up a toilet with 00 Buckshot. Does that count?

Well. That has to count for something!!! But we could probably start a whole thread on things we've shot as target practice. A big shrek doll with an AK47 come to mind....

Have never bothered to get my FID. Want to go hunting though. It sucks, mass dosnt have a rifle season... just muzzleloader, shotgun and archery. I want to go out during coyote season with the .308, aka 7.62x54r Russian mosin nagant. think of ak-47 with bigger exit wounds.

I haven't hunted yet. I'm a city girl and I was never around guns until I met my husband 4 yrs ago. I'd venture to say I'm a pretty good shot though and my husband thinks I'd do just fine. I'm just a bit nervous that I'll somehow miss and they'll run off injured. I guess I'm too much of an animal lover, though oddly enough I'd have no problem bringing it down and I process A LOT of deer every year (lots of people give them to us). I would really love to go eventually, my husband seems to like it a lot.
I think if nothing else I will go hunt some rabbit this year just to try something. Sounds odd but I'm really confident with a .22, I just don't trust myself with something larger yet. Besides, I shot our M1 garand and went ow :D. Doubt I'd be using a 30-06 anyway though, I seem to be sensitive to rifle recoil.

Lol, Wolf, I would love to hunt with a .357 if I was a good enough shot (not nearly though), we have a Smith and Wesson model 19 and that's my favorite gun to shoot.

Umm, It's always season for kangaroos or pigs or cats or any game we shoot here in australia, My personal favourites to use are .22s and .270 scopeless. I hate scopes. I also love air rifles.
