Anyone seen a dovii like this ?

Most of the Nicuraguan dovies i have seen have bluish fins and brownish body, see below...
This one I posted above is all turqouise

Nicaraguan dovii @ 19" A lot depends on the lighting. A small shift in color balance can push the picture into more green.

I definitely see what you're saying. They look like Rio Higueron blues from CR. I saw this variant in person for the first time at Ira's. A strikingly different look from the blue Nics that are always seen in the hobby. That photo really captures it.
 
Don Conkel took those photos and published them in his 1993 book. He calls them Nicaraguan dovii.

I have (and have had) several large Nic dovii, and I don't see anything unusual in the photos. Large specimens, especially males, have a pretty varied look depending on their mood.
 
That photo is a picture of a picture in a book from 1993 and the picture used for it is probably even older, so color is the last thing anyone should be commenting on, as Id bet its not even 25% correct, especially if that book has sat in the sunlight or extreme heat in an attic somewhere. That would make its colors completely different than when new, not to mention the cameras settings etc from the person who took the pic of the pic.

The only thing I notice a little different from todays Nics and CR's is that the Dovii pictured has more of an Istlanum body look compared to the Nics and Costa Ricans available in the hobby today. That being said, to me, the dovii pictured dont look like the Rio Higueron because the Rio Higueron dont look any different than the Nics Ive seen or had.
 
the book " cichlids of north and central america " has those photos , i took a look at it and you can see the rock is green like the fish , its the photo's not the fish . there's 2 photos that have the same greenish hue on them , other than that they look like regular dovii to me . if you can get your hands on some fry , then you can pick the ones you want . some fish are shorter , deeper , or slimmer and slender
