" Too many lives are being lost or changed because of guns. Too many kids -- good kids, kids who play football or baseball or basketball, kids who go to school and try to do right -- are dying on the streets of places like Berkeley and Oakland."

The whole point of this Article is Anti Gun. Ignore the video game crap, it is just a crutch to lean on with another 2A attack. Berkeley and Oakland....really?

I'd like to ask many of the younger members on here if these types of games have an influence on them wanting to join the military...?

26 now, grew up on them, can't say it did.

Why would I want to go get shot at and possibly die? These games have no affect other than teaching us combat moves, and learning about guns. :D

If anything these games should teach people the importance of birth control and why abortions should be remain legal judging by the annoying kids on the game. LOL.

I swear everytime I turn on my mic and actually listen to the kids in these games it reinforces my desire to NOT have children.

Seriously though about the games and their tie into military recruiting. There is a recruiting station in PA that has a jeep and a part of a helo in there to catch interest in kids. To keep them in there so the recruiters can talk to them they have game units set up playing the likes of modern warfare and such.

*sighs* i realize the espn article was long but it wasn't about weither or not video games are ok for kids and or an attack on the rating system or parenting.....it was about weither or not it was bad taste to show regular every day joes like you and i and celebs using military weapons in an urban setting. Basically glorifying military action. The game is not at all shown in the commercial, nor do they show kids in this live action. infact, i imagine most people don't know what the commercial is about until the game flashes at the end. that's assuming most people aren't gamers

dunno if someone posted this already but;
(plus please read threw my full post before you rage)

People who are in the army are regular joe's...we don't raise kids from birth to be war machines(...however you could argue that with the games we buy we are). However not ever single person enlisted wants to shoot-to-kill, or rather not every person enlisted for that reason. You need to remember that there are hundreds of personnel in the armed forces whos jobs have nothing to do with the brute force aspect. (such as radio operators, etc)

However here is a video features on HBO called, "generation kill" which is sorta related to this topic.

When will somebody ever think to blame the parents that raised bad human beings? I like guns, and I own several guns. I don't go around shooting people because I saw it in a movie or commercial. The idea is simply idiotic and screams anti-2nd. My response to the guy in the article, is to go fly a kite, and find a new line of work if you don't like playing with dead bodies.

no, because it's a game, i enjoy playing the games but i would never want to do something like that in real life, war is hell

also, i really liked the commercial and didn't find it the least bit offensive

Bull ****.

I find it odd that suburban and rural kids grow up with more guns then urban kids yet its the urban kids that kill each other over the latest Air Jordans. Both urban and non urban kids play the same video games. Video games have NOTHING to do with it.

What it is is the break up of the American family. There is a segment of our population where nearly 90% of the Children are not raised by both mother and father. THAT is the issue.

You get it man, it isnt about the game. I bet he doesn't pull that crap about cars every time he has to work on a kid killed in a car wreck.

I'm 20 years Retired, USN. I could care less about video games. I shoot around 1k rounds a month in my side yard. I wont let my kids watch R Rated movies nor play Adult Rated Games but they both know enough about guns to only shoot someone on purpose, and make it count when they do.
