Anyone use Ken's Fish Food?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Customer service is non-existent with Ken's fish. No call back , no response to email. I will not deal with them again in the future regardless of their prices on food or equipments.

Yep, customer service has gone down hill recently. Maybe because of the increased popularity in his products he's not able to keep up. IDK. But his prices are unmatched for the quantity that you get, and while it wont be the best ingredients out there (Omega One, Hikari, & NLS), your fish will love it.

hey quick question whats better nls or xtrem aquatic pellets

Ive been ordering all my food from Kens for the past 4 years or so if not longer I order about 10-15lbs every four months all my fish love it the flake as well as the pellets Ive also gotten various other fishroom supplies through the years from them also on a side note I have met Ken and his wife at the ACA here in Cincinnati a couple of years ago theyre good people and they will continue to get my business as long as I keep fish and theyre in business my two cents, Mike

I order 50 lbs of kens fish food, 25 lbs of 7mm and 25 lbs of 5mm floating. i was disappointed that it came in small packages. I wasn't informed of his prior to the order however the food is great. I just had to put it all in my own larger containers.

If you are buying 50 lb's of food at a time, you might want to consider doing what Ken does, buying directly from a feed mill. Most feed mills sell bags in the 25-50 lb size.

Just a thought ......

On the (off) topic of spirulina flakes, the most veggie heavy flake I've seen is here: http://stores.intuitwebsites.com/Aquarisms/-strse-31/Spirulina-Plus-(1-fdsh-4lb)/Detail.bok

Ingredients: Spirulina, Soy Flour, Pea Powder, Alfalfa Leaf Powder, Wheat Flour, Wheat Starch, Carrot Powder, Spinach Powder, Fish Meal, Fish Oil, Wheat Germ, Brewers Yeast, Kelp Powder, Zucchini Powder, Kale Powder, Beet Powder, Soybean Oil, Lecithin, Wheat Gluten, Astaxanthin, Natural Mixed Tocopherols, Rosemary Extract, vitamin and mineral supplements.

There's no breakdown of protein, fat, ash listed but looking at the ingredient list it's extremely heavy in veggies and from using the flake, very little is used for binding (it crumbles pretty easily). If your fish aren't used to veggies they may snub it at first. I almost always have zucchini or squash in my tanks and my fish took to it right away. My brother had to train his tropheus onto it (they weren't used to a ton of veggies) but now they eat it like pigs.

It stated on Ken's old site (he's got a new one) that each bag of food is packed in 1/2 lb packages to maintain freshness.

If Ken's branded food was the same price as Hikari, NLS, Omega, Xtreme, or Southern Delight.....nobody would touch Ken's. The ONLY reason ppl buy his products is price.
