Anyone here who wants to adopt a 10" red belly pacu? Unfortunately, he is getting too big for my datnoids. He also has a tendency to eat EVERYTHING. This messes up my plan to train all my fish to eat pellets. He is in excellent condition and not aggressive at all.

I am planning to starve all my fish for 2 weeks from today. I will feed them pellets on the 17th. On the same day, if no one adopts my red belly, I am going to put it to sleep. So please adopt the big guy. Thanks.

By the way, I'm in 90502.

Please don't put it to sleep.....
Thats actually one of the nicest pacu ive ever seen for it's size...LOTS of red.

That was a photo when it was 8" It still has some read but not as intense as what is in the photo. Most of us know that red belly pacu loose their red coloring as they grow bigger.

I'm afraid I have to put it to sleep. I asked around my LFS if they would take it and all of them said no. It totally messes up my plan to transition to dry foods.

instead of starving why don;t you just eat it.

I meant starving my fish not me. I actually contemplated that but I don't know... I still have to think about it.

No need to kill it...A trick I use on my pacu to let the other fish have plenty of food is, thow a slice of potato in, and while the pacu is eating that, feed the other fish.
Ive had potato slices keep my 15'' pacu busy for like 5 minutes.

^You don't get it. I want to get rid of the fish period. The best way is to have someone adopt, 2nd is giving it to a LFS which didn't work, 3rd is getting a much larger tank which will not happen, and the last resort is putting it to sleep.

Either way, I will unload my tank of this fish. I am targeting an all datnoid tank that's on a pellet diet. Just compare the growth rate of the two and you know what I am dealing with since you also had a pacu.

Yeah.....
Well...If you do, just don't freeze it.
Thats pretty much the worst way..

I read something about using some type of oil to put fish to sleep. In any case, there's still 2 weeks to go before any drastic measures will be done. Although I highly doubt that someone will adopt this good looking fish. I saw a couple of threads in the site giving away larger pacus but no one wants it.
