So ive been looking for a group of dwarf cichlids to populate my 120-gallon leaf litter, was thinking Curviceps or if i can find someone making a big order from Afishanoides i mite go with checkerboard cichlids. More curious about Curviceps, how rare are they? Hows the coloration? Size? Behavior? Experience with them?

I personally have Apistogramma and Bolivian Rams. Had Checkerboard Cichlids in the late 70's but didn't have info on caring for them. The died in a week. The Wetspot had Checkerboard Cichlids they may even get Curviceps. Also check @Tangledupincichlids.

do you know why the checkerbored cichalids died, are they very hard to care for? as hard as Uaru?

The require soft water and at that time the Checker Board Cichlids were wc. The tap water is very hard here 7-6_7-8 ph. I would most definitely suggest the Blackwater setup for them. Also give the Wetspot a call and see how they keep them. Let me if you decide to give them a go.:)

you think a group of 5 checkerbored and 3 apistos could share a dense leaf litter?
like this? I hope so, or should i go with 8 apistos, or 8 checkerbored.. iam pretty sure the uaru wont care bout them.

I would suggest finding some captive bred species unless you are able to provide the soft, acidic water conditions that many wild dwarf cichlid specimens require. I recently had some wild caught bujurquina that had noticeable trouble adapting to my tank which hovers around ph 7.0.

Ive always liked the looks of nannacara anomala but have yet to keep some.

Would Indian almond leaves be enough? My biggest problem is my temp is stable at 72F

Wo should I try to get the checkerbored or not? I am only getting em if I can ship them for free with someone's large order from Afishinandos. Or else what should I get, my options are:
- APISTOGRAMMA PANDURO
- Bolivian rams
- nanacara anamala (but they arnt from the amamzon' there CA mostly)
I want diversity amongst the
deanse leaf litter' so what would be some good numbers?
