What size do you recommend the holes in the pic be drilled for the diffuser? And how many/far apart? I'm having a slight problem fluidizing and I think my holes (1/4" or 3/8" I don't remember) are too big

Have you posted a picture of diagram of what you are doing, exactly? I am feeling a bit lost at the moment. Is your K1 in a chamber like a bottle or is it confined to a section of your sump? I have a K1 chamber under my filter pad in each of my sumps, and between the flow of water from above, and an airstone below, both stay rolling nicely. You may have too much media in your chamber, or if it is not colonized yet, it may just take some time to get closer to neutral buoyancy.

A couple photos of your setup would be helpful...

I will take a couple pics tonight but I have a 3 chamber rectangular sump made out of an old 100 gallon aquarium. The center chamber has 21 gallons of water in it and I have 60% k1 in there. I have a 12" pvc diffuser on each end of the chamber about 2 inches away from the wall on both sides. I had about 10 holes cut on each diffuser either 1/4" or 3/8" I'm not sure. Seems like bubbles are big and k1 only tumbling in the area the bubbles are hitting and the rest is just sitting motionless

The more you area you can cover with bubbles the better, and I would say a larger number of smaller holes would also be effective but I use large airstones (came with a used tank I bought) and have not fabricated my own diffusers... Maybe a grid of PVC to fit the footprint with smaller holes throughout?

Thanks for the great ideas. I'm going to try to play around with smaller holes and more diffusers and see if this kaldness will start dancing
