Apartment Aquarium... How BIG is to BIG!?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i never even thought about this... lol now that i am its kinda making me sketchy... lol :(

I have a 55 gallon at my apartment at college and a 180 at home. I'd love to bring the 180 to my apartment, but I don't want my roomate to kill me :D He already thinks I'm crazy and luckily he is my best friend.

your best friend think your crazy over a 55g? lol he'd prob think most of us here on mfk lost our minds already then... lol btw if your thinking a 180g is big someone on here has a 50,000g that was built-in / added to their house! lol

It doesn't matter what the floor will physically hold if there are terms in your rental agreement that prohibit aquariums over a certain size.

Yes, but you also have to consider weight of glass + stand + everything else in the tank adding to the weight... not to mention also depends how old the building is etc... best possible bet is to get a certified constructor or something to take a look and see what they think it will hold safely... i mean last thing any one wants is a huge tank going through the floor...

With that being said, i live in an apartment in Hong Kong and have a 200G, 60G + 25G sitting in my living room

Aha, or a Waterbed with 2 people, guy is 250lbs and woman is 170lbs which covers the weight of glass/stand. Not to mention when they are humping. A fish tank is hardly rocked ever.

what is psf?

i think most apts can hold up to a 450-500g aquarium jmo
