This thing is junk. Between 20 and 80 it all looks the same. I have no idea what my nitrates are and I just did a water change. Any other kits that read better? Not just slightly different shades of orange and red.
I do look under light and all that, but the colors are very close to eachother. You end up struggling between 2 of the colors, trying to figure out which one it is.
exactly. i must be lousy with colors, but even if you narrow it down to 2, its a 20ppm range and that is significant. I try all sorts of different lighting. i could throw it through the wall!!
Hahahaha. I assume all the posters above me are men. I once read that a very high percentage of adult men are actually slightly color blind, not to mean we see black and white, but it is very hard to distinguish between colors of similar shade, like blue vs violet, green vs brown etc.
I also just make a best guess with my API Nitrate kit. I showed my results to my kids and they say I have 20ppm, showed it to my wife and she said 80ppm. Go figure.
