  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
try the Nutrafin test kit . . . personally, I find even that one hard to read when it gets over 20, but that's okay because my goal is to keep it under 20 anyway . . .

i think i made this thread well over a year ago. i wish i would have gotten this many responses then!! haha. I dont even try to test for nitrates anymore. Just keep up on WC's.

same here.... This seems to happen to most people. Wish there was a definitive test but whatever. Just do water changes and do what ya can maintenance wise :)

I added purigen a while back and love it. (My source water has 20-30 ppm nitrates but who can really tell right ;)
Also adding some fluval nitrate remover whenever it shows up...

api master test kit is junk, i threw it out and just bought 100 dip strips wayyy easier to use and read imo

I did have very high nitrates, but when I got additional water drums for my WC and did a weekly WC of 50% or so, my nitrates have gone down to 10-15ppm. Now that it's so light, I am not so color blind after all...I was just in denial.

I hardly use my test kits also = WC = solving problems is better than testing for 'em.

BTW 320 bucks for testers here in this country.
