  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Okay got it, lol those small fish were the cheapest and didn’t care much to lose them I just didn’t want to add goldfish because they always end up surviving and have no place to put them after. I should’ve asked before adding the fx5 but I’ll go ahead add the fish and slowly check the water. I’ll do water changes if needed be. Should I add little bit of fish at a time ? Like maybe the 2 angels then move forward to the discus slowly ? Or just do them all at the same time

I would say better to do it gradually, Perhaps the angels first, wait a while, then the other fish.
Regarding the discus- two issues. One, better to add them all at once (despite the problem of seeded media) or you may end with a bad hierarchical situation where the latter added ones will be bullied by others who have taken residence. Second- you may hear different opinions, but angels and discus are not the best of companions.
Good luck!

Okay thanks for the feedback I will add the angels tonight and the discus this weekend. So far they have been great with each other. No aggression of any sort they keep to themselves
The aggression is just between the discus and I think it’s due to pecking order. The angels have even spawned and did nothing but the discus. Can you explain to why you think they don’t make good companions ?

Like I said, different people different opinions. And it depends very much on what one is attempting to accomplish with the tank, i.e, enjoying a "community tank", or maximizing the performance of individual fish in growth, reproduction, etc. They can be together, but a number of people don't advise depending of what is desired. But it is certainly possible and from your posts I interpret you have been doing it already.
Several reasons - Depending on the type of angels, specially domestic strains, most of them prefer somewhat lower temperatures than many discus (also depending of types of discus, either wild, or domestic strains). Of course aquarium strains are more adaptable. Also, angels are often more aggressive at eating than discus, potentially outcompeting them, and have somewhat different diet requirements. If pairings take place, there can be additional competition issues.
Good luck. It sounds as if it would be a very nice tank and community.

Thank you for your input
My goal is a nice tank to watch and enjoy
Community is my goal with peace and beautiful colors lol
I will post update videos on this thread of this tank as it grows
All fish are now in new tank and water parameters looking good
Seems like all fish adjusted well I’ll keep an eye out these next weeks
