Amazing little fish - so tantalizing. I checked them out on amazontropicalsonline and it looks like they are reasonably priced too - what do you recommend? I was really attracted to the triple red you have in the first pic.

amazon tropicals online is one of my buddies! I have gotten several from him. He lives about 20 minutes from me. Cacatuoides are a great starter apisto, can't go wrong as they are super colorful and usually breed readily.

Sweet! Your fish are inspirational to say the least.

just as an aside, I like the female apistos almost as much as the males. When they are in breeding dress they are just a beautiful bright yellow. Triple red female:

I agree! What kind are you getting?

I am getting 2 pairs of Apistogramma Viejita which will be going in my 60 gallon cube tank. They should be here any time now along with the rest of my order. I keep looking outside, like that's going to make them get here any faster, lol.

ktluvsfish - Just be aware that they will most likely be an A. macmasteri color phase, most fish in the trade sold as 'viejita' are according to most apisto pros/sources. Appearantly true A. viejita are very rare in the hobby.

Actually had an inquiry on the viejita from the suplier in sweden, and he said the exact same thing.
However, his are actual viejita according to him. But meh, i'm gonna start out with the hongsloi colony and stuff them in a big tank.

MrHagel - I'd be more inclined to believe an European supplier in regards to that statement than I would an American ... simply becuase you guys have access to rarer fish in general than we do. More Europeans go down and collect and others are more willing to spend the money on rare stuff (on average) than we are. Hongsloi are nice though. One LFS recently got in some wild blue form agassizi and some norberti that are tempting me.
