Funny how times change with diffrent bans and new fish keepers....10 years ago the hystrix stingray was a cheap ray and everyone up here wanted motoro and black rays. A 8" Hystrix was around $100 CND second cheapest next to the 70-80 dollar teacups. I've kept many hystrix over the years and agree they have great personalities but my motoro's did too. It just funny what i thought of as a cheaper kinda boring ray in the past gets so many excited now...Rays forever !!!!!

Hystrix are certainly rare as cb animals. Far more so from what I have seen than even the black rays. You see tons of cb Motoros and can even get blacks readily enough as cb but I have not seen a cb Hystrix for sale.

I have a gravid female Hystrix ready to pop any time now, these are long term captives, ive had them no less than 13 years, the males has a 7 inch disc the female is 12inches,i will post pictures as soon as they are born.
I love Hystrix for all the reasons mentioned so far,my first ray was an Hystrix some 30+ years ago,i admire them the same today as i did then ......fantastic rays to keep!!!

price has dropped in europe... and with all these wilds that should all be breeding at the same time in a year or 2 they will end up being worth alot less than what they cost now...

that deff may happen....but if you have gotten into this hobby ever thinking you are going to get out of it the money or time you have dumped into it.... your WRONG ha ha ha:ROFL:

but on a serious note... there still awesome no matter how much they cost...

Yeah, not sure what the craze is all about either. I like some patterns but still a fan of the marbles and pearls. Just wish I could afford them.
