I have a 135 and I am getting ready to add water and start the cycle and I was wondering if I could put the following fish in the tank. They will all be bought as juvis and be put in the tank.
The measurments of the tank are 72x24x18. And it will be filtered by a 20gal wet/dry with 5gals of biomedia and 2 AC110's.

1. Jack Dempsey
2. Green Terror
3. Green Texas
4. Red Oscar
5. Gold Severum
6. 4-5 Silver dollars

I'd drop the oscar and go with a jaguar. I haven't kept severums, but was also under the impression that they are rather timid and more in common with angels and Flag cichlids temperment wise. So I'd say drop the severum and get either a flowerhorn or an actual trimac.

Your tank will be fine. In fact I think it would be a rather pleasant tank. If you add a jaguar, Trimac or Flowerhorn I can guarantee you there will be way to much aggression in your tank. The Oscars don't grow any faster than the other cichlids. In fact Oscars are some of the more tolerable cichlids I've kept. The jaguars I kept were brutal and by reputation alone Trimacs and flowerhorns are very aggressive fish. I would start out with all of the fish being approximately the same size and everything should be fine. In fact throw in some more dithers if you like. I keep clown loaches with nearly all my cichlids. A couple of catfish that stay on the smaller side also make for good dithers and they add movement to the bottom of the tank. If you want this tank to last I can't stress enough DO NOT add a Jaguar, Trimac or Flowerhorn.

:iagree: You will be ok for a looooooonnnnggg time if you get as Juvies.. You may have some aggression as they get bigger.... but you never know.:D

Other then the comment about the jag and flowerhorn(I agree way to aggressive) please disregard the above post. I have kept all these fish and the oscars grow way faster then the others by far in fact i have a 120 with a Red Tiger Oscar, Albino Oscar, Jack Dempsey, 2 Severums, Green Terror and a Firemouth. I started them all of at about 2.5" and have this set-up for about 9 months. The 2 oscars are pushing 9" where everyone else hasn't even broke 5"........This is the case with everyone i know who has kept oscars, they eat alot and grow way faster then the other cichlids you are interested in trust me. I have several friends who have similar set-ups and the oscars are by far the largest. In fact i volunteer at a fish store and the oscar fry even though are fed a limited amont of food per day grow way faster then the others......GoodLuck

He didn't say anything about a jaguar, trimac or flowerhorn someone else did. Oscars are the fastest growing cichlids I have ever worked with. I worked with a lot too. Nore do i think he really needs dither fish. skillz stay with that game plan you have and you will have a nice tank.

My sev has beat the crap outta all my fish except my pike so far.
