approx FW monster tank cost

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Good news! I've really gotten my mom into this, so getting a monster tank is pretty likely now! W00T! Now, one of my final (not really) questions, is there anything besides filtration, water flow, or lighting? Oops, forgot heating. Where do I get a big heater and is there anything I forgot?

filter bio
water flow in the tank
substrate and rocks
lighting
heating ( heaters and thermostats)

WATER !!! and a way to do monster water changes.

heater.... how big a tank... what is the coldest you expect it to be ???

way to go MOM :headbang2 :headbang2

The tank I'm guessing would be between 2,500-5,000 gallons. I know that's a big range, but I'm hoping for more to 5,000. Substrate shoudln't be too hard to get. The only thing is that I might want to get some monster rays. Gotta make sure the substrate would be okay for them. For temp, where I am, it can get cold in the winter, and almost 90 degrees in the summer. For the cover, I never really even thought of that. I'm not really sure about that, but it definatly needs to be escape and jump-proof, as I plan on getting arowanas. For water changes, I could probably get a big rubbermaid drum, maybe two. And for rocks, I don't know where I could find big pieces, but I could easily get could medium or small ones.

how cold ????

plan on pressure hose ( garden hose ) etc plus a built in drain for water changes

I want the temperature at the coldest 76 degrees, at the highest around 84 degrees.

sorry what is the coldest temperature the tank will be exposed to indoors ( 50F) outdoors ?? -25 F or ???

Sorry, misunderstood that. Outside, during the winter the coldest usually is around 0 degrees. Inside, we susually keep the temp at around 60-75 degrees, so that's not a problem.

where will the tank be located ??? in or out... if in how cold does the house get if you go out of town ??

Inside the house, definatly. While we're out of town, we keep the thermostat on, so that's okay.
