with so many options we should get three votes: first place, runner up and second runner up. I took around 6-7 mins to decide and still wanted to vote for atleast three pics.

i would really like to know which pics you are referring to. because i only see a handful of pics with black backgrounds, one of them being mine. just because you see a picture with a black background doesnt mean it was photoshoped. it has to do with how the picture was taking, and the equipment used. a wireless flash used ON TOP of the tank will create shadows on the fish and completed black out the background. it's easy to see which black backgrounds are added in photoshop as you can tell by looking at the outlines of the fish. i can tell you that none of these here appear to have done so.

I am just speaking generally never said it cant be done without photoshop I know it can I have done it before and I didn't say these photos were ps'd. I am just stating in general to the comment that it should be allowed why I think it shouldn't be allowed (not that it is done now). Sorry if they way I wrote it didn't come out right (I dont mean that in a bad way).

i see what you mean :) as i said, it's pretty easy to see when something has been obviously "photoshopped", like a solid black background. but messing with things like brightness, exposure, contrast, color channels, saturation, etc shouldnt be considered "photoshopped". these are all part of aquatic photography. rarel will you get a pic that is truly representative of the fish in how it actually looks w/o any post-editing. most of the time colors will be washed out, too dark, etc.
