aquaclear 110 vs 2 fluval c4'

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wasn't being combative Hawker, I didn't intend on sounding that way. If I did, I apologize. I was just saying that if it came down to 2 C4's or 1 AC110, I would go with the 110. You save money and you're buying a very reliable filter. I've used a C4 in the last and it was also good but not comparable to a 110 imo

My opinion is based on what I see... no I have not owned a C series. For simple reasons. AC110 has the "Reputation" to begin with (Which I wouldnt say the C's have, at least from what I have read!). And I sure dont see ANY Fluval C'Series on ANY tank at ANY of the LFS's I regular! They are all DOMINATED by AC110's... every tank! So my personal opinion is... its no question!

Edit: I do see your point, and in most situations, I would agree that if you havent experienced both, .... i get it. But, like i said, in my opinion, because of the fact that the LFS's I trust use a 110 on EVERY tank, combined with the already stearling reputation... 110 Hands down! Stick with what you KNOW will get the job done right!

Yes I understand, and no problem here. This is a hard arguement its the same companies new vs old. I think Fluval has held back the C5 on purpose because it would blow away the 406 and add competition. I have a bad habit of calling something just as I see it which is not always a good thing :banhim:. The C has fixed some of the issues with the AC line rather a person wants to admit it or not. The AC line is not as good at mechnical since they changed the sponges. If the AC gets clogged the assembly will start to float up to where it can overflow or at least dry out what in most cases is your Biomax. The plastic seems to fit better like covers. And it's as easy if not easier to service. Plus the added Bio. I agree it's not ment to compete with the 110 Fluval isn't stupid but they have realized what they are going to need to compete and not loose the business rather or not it is ment to replace the AC someday is yet to be seen. But the new models and the phaseout of the Aquaclear name sure points in that direction. Now there Canisters don't get me started I've got three I can't afford to replace so I'm stuck until I get rich or win the lottery. A whole another subject which I have given up on!!!!

Ac110, I have both, 2 ac110 and 2 c4. Both c4 started to died when they suck up some sand. Love the design hated changing out 2 propeller

Rob this is a good point but anyone with a hagen filter is aware that the motors don't handle fine gravel or sand well and this fits many models thru the FX5.

I think they are all currently owned by Hagen. Hagen recently decided to combine Aquaclear and Fluval, hence the Fluval 110.

I think many folks are waiting to see how this washes out? It may be to save money it may be to merge who knows....they sure arn't saying much I've tryed when I was on the support line:)
