Um, because oscars are and will always be messy eaters. A AC70 will not coupe with a oscar in a 55gal period. A AC110 would work 10x better then a AC70, a AC 110 is two times more the turn over rate needed a hour. Commend sense.

+1. Well worth the extra $10-$15 bucks for 500 gph. Your Oscars will thank you for it

LOL its common sense . 1 he said he already has another filter an aqueon 55/75 which is 400gph and personally that would mess up the sand too much for my liking

I've never heard of a Hob messing up sand. The flow is not significant enough to reach 15" to the bottom. My fx5 doesn't even do that.

By messing up sand i mean pushing it outward from the downfall of the HOB filters creating a crater like area in the sand bed that shows the glass. No blow it around.

You are clearly not understanding the point that is being made, you said a single aq70 wont hold it and I am saying there isn't just a single aq70 not once did I say an aqueon is better then the aq110. You should read first before going on the offence. OP go with a 110 if you want or have the money but the aq70 is more than enough with the other filter thats what i'm running on my 70g (with a sponge filter).

That's my 20g with an AQ making a mess. And the tan one is in my 29g. It would be an almost perfect circle but I put stuff in front to try to stop it.
Edit: opps hard to see on 29g with it being a mirror reflecting the plants..

That's what I thought. Lower ddoesn't seem to matter it just speeds it up. It still happens when it's full. It is like in the 20g but the 29g is Pfs and is much heavier than the 20g stuff which is argonite. Sorry op for going off topic
