i use 1 rablespoon per 10 and its not as much as it seems and it does help reduce electrolyte loss

I use salt all the time in my freshwater tanks. Really keeps my cichlids healthy, seems to keep parasites in check. I have recently improved a bad case of HITH in one of my Texas cichlids to the point its hardly visible. So for now, I am going to use 1TSP per 10 for general health, and twice that for disease.

I use it every water change to keep infection down.

I quit using it since I realized tap water already contains too much crud as it is. I also read about stress on Oscarfish.com, the kidney and liver strain, etc. Made sense to me.

The only tank I'm using it in is my faux brackish jade goby tank, and that's because he has an ulcer. But the ulcer isn't going away so I'm going to slowly take him back to fresh and see about injecting an antibiotic if I can find it.

I sometimes will do a salt dip when I add new fish to the tank. I find it greatly reduces infection when adding newbs to the setup. This, of course is relative to what species I am adding
