Hey all. Recently just changed the scape for my 55g again. It may not be the best looking but I tried lol. Previously when I tried adding plants, none of them worked out and would turn colours or die fast.

im a total beginner when it comes to aquatic plants, I know no plant species or anything. Every advice is appreciated, and ideas for what plants would look good with the scape would be amazing. Thanks! ?

How about some anubias on the wood and rocks?
pretty easy to attach ,i've used super glue and fishing line to do it. The roots attach themselves onto the wood/rock over time.

Very nice! Some Val in the back and Anubias/Java all over the rock and wood would do well.
Hornwort is also an option, very hard to kill and very cheap. Very good background or floater plant.
What is that horizontally striped cyprinid? Between the serpaes in the first pic? It’s beautiful!

Thanks all for the replies. I’ll try Java fern and Anubias. Is glue or string a better choice? I used glue the previous times, and after the plants withered it left whitish spots on my wood…. Maybe I should learn how to tie.

should I place the anubias on the wood/ rocks or in the gravel?

I don’t use string or glue in my tanks. I normally just plant directly in the gravel. If a fish keeps uprooting and bothering it, then try to wedge it in between the rocks. If you choose to either plant directly in the gravel or attach it to the rocks/wood make sure you don’t cover up the rhizome with gravel or damage it. The rhizome is essentially the most important part of a plant.

I just searched up, isn’t the rhizome the root of the plant? Why shouldn’t it be buried? Sorry I’m new to plants I’m still unsure of the parts of the plant.
