Aquatop CF-500UV? 125 gallon filteration

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i also have an AquaTop cf500uv filter, it is doing great, awesome filter for the $$$. a good idea with these filters is to take the spray bar off and just run the 90 degree elbow, it creates much more flow and your filter works more efficiently.

Plus one, I did the same..

Can i do it this way have the 4 pads on the bottom tray and the 3rd and 2nd tray bio-balls and first tray ceramic rings ?? I am setting it up tomorrow

I think allot of the bad that you hear is the stigma that it's made in China. I say this all the time, it's a Marineland with the UV added. And you know I am bashed because I am straight forword when I say the FX5 is not perfect. I have one and I would never want to run it alone on my 125 more or less a 400 gallon. That aside in about three years or so the jury will start to come in on the Aquatops. I have the same stigma issue with my Marineland for the very same thing. You know the thing is so huge (C530 is like 22" high) with all that media how can it not filter well? Marinelang is a big company so I would think that after years in business that it's not going to risk itself just because it's main filter is now made in China. If these filters where made in say Ohio people would be on them like butter and not to down China but I think allot of these companies need to start moving production back here? I wonder would that make them better though?

I should think with the Rena and 110 you be good to go with the AT added they have good mechnical filtration when setup that way.

the course pad is supposed to be on top to catch big particles coming in if it is not dirty ever it is not doing its job IMO
My bio and chemical media doesnt get dirty or clogged my pads get filthy, the white pads do most the work catch tiny particles.

I run a aquatop and a fx5 on my 150g tank and dont trust either to do the job by itself.
Both good filters in all.
