Ruturaj Ruturaj , do you mean the thermometer and not the thermostat?

Which type and brand thermometer are you using? The reason I ask is that the stick on the tank type thermometers can give you incorrect readings. I use the hang in the tank or a floating thermometer and just move them from tank to tank to check temps. Some members use the hand held infrared thermometers usually found in the tool department at big box stores.

My bad, Yes, I meant thermometer. I am using floating thermometer as well. Small Imagitarium Glass Thermometer to be exact.

those are probably +/- 2 degrees , so they are plenty good.. i use floating / hang on myself, very few problems and dirt cheap..

For a 40 gallon I would run a temp controller and I always run 2 heaters that would be just a little on the small side to heat the tank individually. So either 2x 150watt or 2x 100 watt. For me it would be 75s or 100s, but I keep my tanks at 76-78 depending on the stock and my room temp is 65-68 depending on time of year.

But no matter what I run temp controllers and I have spare probes waiting just in case and I check tank temp daily.

I use magnetic imagitarium thermometers and I put them all in the same tank with 4 temp controllers and a top end hand held digital thermometer to cross check everything's accuracy so I know which thermometer is off by half a degree or 2 degrees or whatever. Then I calibrated my temp controllers accordingly as well.

If you ship the old Aqueon heater to Aqueon they will send you a new one. I sent one in to see what would happen. The cost of shipping the heater for repair was the same as if I were to purchase a new one from Amazon $11.99. The replacement heater Aqueon sent had a leak. Once placed in the tank the heater started to fill with water. I hear they are even having trouble with the seams on new aqariums. I know I will never buy from them.

I already received a replacement. But I had already bought another filter.
