I was at the LFS and saw something unusual here...well unusual for a San Diego fish store. Fish Haven has (6) Arapaima Gigas juveniles for sale. Just eyeballing their size, I estimated them to be about 5"-6". The price was reasonable at $189.00 considering
most vendors charge about $150 plus upwards of $75.00 to ship. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures. I'll try to get some from the owner. He said they've been at the shop for about a month now.

Anyone in San Diego should jump on this. San Diego isn't a hot bed for rare fish like LA is. I would jump but I've had my eyes on a shark they have there.

I am in no way affiliated with Fish Haven. Just passing along a great and rare find in the San Diego market.

There's a bunch of these for sell here in LA county.... One closest to me is A+ tropical in Rosemad CA.... Price for these badboys are $99 each. They are same sizes eyeball about 7-8".....

I'm not saying they are super rare and not obtainable, but it is rare to see them in San Diego for sure. Thanks for the replies! This is just a good opportunity for San Diego people and even some people south of Orange County to get Arapaima without spending money on shipping or driving up to LA for them (especially with gas prices!).

Wonder if it will survive an outside pond in San Diego?

If it was local here I would have one for fun. Be a great fish to grow big. Then again I'm hooked into stingrays right now. Lol. Never mind im good.

Thanx for the info bro. FYI, in the past month or two tons of gigas have arrived in Southern Cali with prices ranging from $50-$80 each so $189 is not reasonable at all. That is why the owner has had them for one month and will continue to have them there at that price. Poor gigas!
