Arapaima Pond Build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Great thread! Lot of work, but looks like it was worth it. Any recent pictures of the whole set up and the big guy? I'll check out the new videos too....

Noticed this morning that the RTC that I put in a couple of weeks ago is now roaming around and chasing other fish.
He sure put on a lot of weight it seems. Looks like it's going to be big healthy fish, very nice to see him getting around the pond like that.
New Koi I put in last Saturday is also doing well. Settled in with his new friends, very nice fish to see.

Cheers,
Luc

Was a bit worried this week, temperatures are murdering hot right now, no end in sight.
It showed in the videos last week, greenish water, algae and small solids.
Battle it, I stopped all feeding except prawns for Mr. T. for 4 days.
Yesterday released maybe 5 cubic meters of water and topped it up again.

This morning I came in, water crystal clear again, all the way to the bottom.
Will make some video this afternoon to show it. Fish all doing well, beautiful sight in bright sun with all the colors.

RTC left his initial spot in the back side. He's now roaming around the bottom around one of the drains.
I'm still amazed how fast he put on weight and length since he's in the pond.
He's really getting bigger by the day.
Time to get number two in as well, as he's getting naughty in his pond at my house.

Also bought 6 more Oscars, at home in the 80G to grow out first.
3 Albino, 3 Normal.

Oh..I know it's not smart, but got 4 more RTC's, 2-3" each in the 80G. Will see what we're going to do with those later.

Cheers,
Luc

Loved the video! That RTC looks like he's quite a character. I especially liked the parts where Mr. T gets petted. What awesome fish you have.

Looks great, wish it was warm here all the time for a pond out side, but then again I am glad its cooler here as well. :-)

Hello Pacu-Mom, glad you enjoyed it...You only misunderstand the pushing of Mr.T. It's to keep him away, he had his fair share of prawns already and the cleaning lady is trying to keep him away so she can feet some to Mr. Red Tail. lol...
Last week she did not pay attention and Mr. T took her fingers for another prawn...so she's a bit more careful now...hahaha...
Some more video's and pictures soon...

Cheers,
Luc
