Arapaima Pond Build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
in the 3rd picture above, you can see how dark green the water in the Koi Pond.

I've decided to not put in the papyrus plants anymore, they grow like crazy and their roots, though not deep, form massive blocks.
We took out maybe 150kg of roots, soil, clay, only from that Papyrus. You can clearly see how it overwhelms everything, and that was only 6-8 weeks after we completely razed the whole filter, with a couple of strands still standing. Done that many times over the last year and it's amazing how fast everything grows back to 2-3 meters high.

Cheers,
Luc

Could you show how you put up the cover for your pond?

I got a rail bolted to the fence-wall, from there I pulled steel wire to the front.
I used 4 meter sections of blue PVC pipe, drilled holes in them and the steel wire goes through the holes.
The blue UV shade is then fixed to steel wire and PVC with TieRaps.

Cheers,
Luc

Mr T is a magnificent beast!
And cheeky at that...lol.
I like to compare him to that big goofy dog, knows exactly what's going on and just keeps patient and getting his share of food. Find it amazing when I see feeding videos on YouTube and compare to Mr. T. They all snatch and run. Totally the opposite of Mr. T who just waits patient for his share.
Even with now 2 catfish getting part of the prawns, all 3 at the feeding spot, he just waits, never trying to fight or anything.

Overall, pond water ok again, tomorrow the plants go back in...
